They do say that small businesses are the barometer of the economy (don’t they?). Well after a quiet spell earlier in the year, it seems at the moment as if the phone is perpetually ringing. I am obviously delighted for Breeze, but am I bucking a trend, or am I riding the wave of recovery? A ‘straw poll’ of my colleagues has not helped provide an answer. Some, like myself, have seen these mythical green’ shoots’, while others are still sweating through their business development plans with no revenue to show for their efforts. Are you running a small business? What do you think?

I have to agree Steve; since April I’ve had the same experience as you. There was a very lean period with management and development – that amazing time when people need help more than ever but refuse to spend a penny!
I do think people’s caution over spending is healthy – they now want to know how they are going to get value and results, which wasn’t always the case.
There is also more of a focus on engaging and motivating leaders and teams, which I think is brilliant. Often skills training comes first, but right now businesses need highly motivated, highly effective staff.

Well, as an event photographer myself, i do see a very small increase in bookings but I still don’t find people opening their wallets or purses!
Time to go back to part time and get another job while I wait it out.
